The Hotel "Julienne" is a typical Friulian building located along a historic road of Arba. It dates to the early'900, and is entirely made of stones and bricks. The building after years of abandonment and changes in ownership, has returned to the family of origin who has discovered and developed the features of the past. Mountain and seaside localities are easy to reach, if you consider Arba’s position, located perfectly in the middle of Friuli.
The management of the Hotel is kept by owners who, inspired by love for this land, offering the simplicity of these sites and many opportunities to discover the town characteristics localities of this corner of Italy.
HISTORY
The complex of old stables in which is inserted the hotel is dated back to 18th century, as is possible to evince from some stones carrying the year 1790.
The three buildings, realized in that time by brothers Miotto, Angelo, Luigi and Giovanni, were obviously in directed connection, being realized from members of the same family, called beyond a century with the nickname “belu” that means beautiful, sight evidently the presence in it of many persons whit good looking aspect; this permitted to identify the members of the family because in the country there were other familiar groups with the same last name, Miotto, moreover much present in the Municipality of Arba, in the “Villa of Arba”, like was anciently defined.
In successive times were studied opportune hiding places in the house in order to avoid that all the provisions came stolen by Germans or by the partisans, in succeeding of several wars, therefore in the stable where now is the hotel and in the landlord house, in the course of intense restructure activities, has been discovered some “secret” rooms, camouflaged between the walls, built up to concur at the creation of hidden and unsuspected spaces where was possible to be able hiding in necessity case.
In 1970, the house has been acquired by a Count from Padova that, intentioned to construct a stable with a riding ground for horses, made adaptation’s activities.
But no one activity followed the works, because the Count vanished for approximately forty years, appearing very rarely in order to state that the house still existed, in spite of time usury and inclemencies!
Thanks to the constancy of Miotto’s descendants, in the year 2005 the property came repurchased; they began intense activities of restructure and valorisation of that ancestors had constructed with passion and spirit of sacrifice, in difficult times of Friuli’s history.
